There are also A LOT of little breweries and restaurant places including Campus 805, Stovehouse, and in downtown Huntsville.
FUN THINGS TO DO1. Space and Rocket Center: The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is the world's largest space museum and the official visitor center for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. It features a large collection of space artifacts and rockets, and visitors can also train like an astronaut at Space Camp. BUT it's only open from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm 7 days a week.
2. Big Spring Park and FREE concert in the Park: This is a large park in downtown Huntsville (~10 minutes from the School) that has a big pond with ducks. They also have a free summer concert series every Monday evening from 6:30 - 8:30. They also have a bunch of food trucks for those concerts.
3. Von Braun Civic Center: Prominent multi-purpose facility that features several spaces, including a concert hall, arena, and exhibit halls. Some of the activities held at the VBCC include concerts by major musical acts, Broadway-style theater productions, sports events such as basketball games and wrestling matches, conventions, trade shows, and community gatherings like graduations and festivals.
4. MidCity District: This is a fun hub with entertainment, dining, shopping, and outdoor activities. A lot of people like to go to Top Golf, the Orion Theatre (large amphitheatre with some pretty cool concerts), Rock Climbing, Dave and Busters (think giant arcade for adults), and a bunch of different places to eat and shop.
5. Bridge Street Towne Centre: This is another hub with entertainment, dining, and shopping. It has a lot of restaurants, a movie theater, bowling alley, arcade, and stores to shop in.
6. Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment: The South's largest privately-owned arts facility, housed in a historic textile mill. It features studios for over 150 artists, galleries, performance spaces, and unique shops. Visitors can explore art exhibits, watch live performances, take classes, and experience a vibrant community of creativity and innovation.
7. Huntsville Botanical Gardens: 112 acre garden where isitors can enjoy themed gardens, a butterfly house, seasonal flower displays, and various events like festivals, educational programs, and outdoor concerts, making it a peaceful retreat and a favorite spot for nature lovers. Hours in the summer are till 6:00 pm Monday and Tuesday and till 8:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday. It also costs money to go there.
8. Huntsville Land Trust: There are a series of free hiking trails all around. For those wanting to be more active, there are miles and miles of free trails.
9. Monte Sano State Park: The park is on top of Monte Sano Mountain and also features a lot of hiking trails. I think it costs $5 a person to enter the park.
10. Burritt on the Mountain: A unique historic park and museum located atop Monte Sano Mountain, where you can explore the historic mansion, visit the authentic pioneer-era homes, and stroll through the beautiful nature trails. The museum hosts various activities, including guided tours, hands-on workshops, and educational programs that delve into local history and traditional crafts. It also costs money to go there.
